I have been such a slacker; zero blogging this weekend. I am ashamed of myself. Please accept my most sincere apologies. My new motto will now be, ‘No excuses, blog like a champion.’
Happy Spring everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL weather we had over the weekend, especially Saturday.
Now even though we had such a great day, it was hard not to be jealous of this picture message I received from my sister Kelly who was hanging out with my parents in Vegas. I may be a weeee bit jealous but I’m also really happy they’re having such a good time!
I started my Saturday off with a 9am appointment at the Robert Jason Salon in Andover. I didn’t want to be inside at all, but since my roots were taking over I needed some highlights asap (not a natural blond, big surprise! Is there such thing as a ‘real blond’ anyway?)
This was my first time to the salon – I have given up on my old hair stylist due to the fact that a visit to her salon is like a glimpse into the life of one of the ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ (or Revere.) Also, the whole experience never takes less than five hours and you won’t leave without hearing an inappropriate story such as the time she got into a screaming match with her boyfriend in the driveway, which resulted in her breaking his windshield. To top it all off, they had ice-cold water to wash your hair – not exactly a pleasant experience. She always gave me a great cut and excellent highlights, but it’s time to move on. When you feel like your stylist should be paying you, instead of the other way around, it’s time to find a new one.
Back to the Robert Jason Salon… It was awesome! Everyone was so nice and the girl who did my hair (Ashley) did a wonderful job. I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend it.

Next, I convinced Colin to come for a run. My body was tired but since I’m training for the half marathon I knew I just had to push myself. The whole time during the run I was wishing SO BAD that I was just going for a walk, or just sitting on a bench, relaxing, enjoying the sun. I kept cramping up and I had to stop and walk a few times. Colin was doing way better than I was and he hasn’t been training for a race. It was beyond frustrating. I literally had to say Hail Marys throughout the run in order to get my mind off the fact that I was running (also to have God and his team up their on my side in case I croaked.) When we finished our run I had a bit of a breakdown. I just felt so disappointed with myself; I felt defeated. Luckily Colin gave me a really encouraging pep talk to help snap me out of it. In the end, I knew I had to get my run in for the day even though I didn’t want to, and I did. I finished. I didn’t just convince myself that it was OK to walk the rest of the way, I didn’t give up. That’s what’s gonna help me cross that finish line in April.
After our run we headed back to Newton (where Colin lives) he went to play basketball and I went in search of new shoes for our night out in Boston. I tried on some really cool heels at Target that I loved but felt way too tall in. This girl standing by me complimented how great they looked. She was extremely nice and eventually encouraged me to get them! I am really happy I did, so I owe her a thank you. Maybe she’s reading my famous blog right now…
I’m roughly 6’5 in them, no big deal…
Saturday night a bunch of us went out for Danielle’s birthday. First we started the night off at Nuge and Christine’s (aka X) apartment; we had some drinks and a lovely dinner (including a cake, candles and a beautiful rendition of ‘happy birthday.’) Then we headed to Buskers which is over by The Garden. It was a really good time! The DJ played a lot of good music and we danced the whole time we were there. Total success.
I heard about 3 new websites over the weekend and they’re awesome! Figured I would share…
When.com – http://www.when.com/ Lists all sorts of activities to do in your area, ranging from free events, sporting events, restaurant deals, etc.
Going.com – http://boston.going.com/ Similar deal with a more hip look to their website. People can post stuff they hear about and they also have a ‘recession busters’ section which lists cheap/free events.
Trails.com – http://www.trails.com/ ‘Your guide to the outdoors,’ You type in your area and they’ll give you places to explore on a nice day. Hopefully the good weather will continue. Fingers crossed…
Tourtracker.com – http://www.tourtracker.com/ The who-what-where-when of concerts.
Tomorrow the Soul Fire BBQ in Allston has an all you can eat wings special on Mondays from 5pm-10pm for $8.99. Today we took Lady to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lawrence for a little bit, then relaxed the rest of the day. Went to church at 5:30 where I got to see two girls who volunteered the same year I did. It was a very nice surprise! We then went to Whole Foods, I got my groceries for the week (more strawberries and grapes which I already taste tested, and they are delicious.) Then Colin made some amazing burgers paired with equally amazing sweet potato fries with a maple glaze. Ooooweeee it was a good dinner!
It’s been a busy weekend and I’m looking at a busy week ahead so it’s time to get some sleep. Goodnight readers, hope you had a great weekend
PS- We’ve been watching the new show Life on the Discovery Channel and I’m definitely gonna have nightmares of Komodo Dragons tonight.
